Valley media lab’s first initiative is an investment in local news
FRESNO,
With declining news coverage of the issues and people of the San Joaquin Valley, The San Joaquin Valley Sun aims to fill a void beyond niche interests.
“Valley news can be best described in three words: slim, shallow, and bleak,” Alex Tavlian, Valley Future executive director said. “The San Joaquin Valley Sun is focused on providing the depth, attention, and perspective that ought to be paid to the communities and people of our Valley.”
Focused on a robust offering of quality local news, The Sun will delve into a variety of subject matters, including local political and business news, agricultural and water news, in-depth reporting on Fresno State and local high school athletics, and insights on Valley lifestyle, culture, and entertainment.
The Sun will also host an email news tipsheet, titled Sunrise A.M., featuring headlines, insights, and exclusive content delivered weekdays. Subscriptions are available at SJVSun.com/signup.
“We want the news to be where our readers are: in their inbox, online, and easily accessible,” Tavlian said. “We can’t wait for The Sun to rise.”
The San Joaquin Valley Sun will launch in April at SJVSun.com, Facebook, and Twitter
